British & Irish Botanical Conference

The 2025 British & Irish Botanical Conference will be held at Edge Hill University, Lancashire, on Saturday 29th November.

Use the button below to view the programme and make your booking.

Who can attend? What’s on?

We welcome everyone who is interested in the wild flowers of Britain and Ireland. You don't need to be a BSBI member to attend: we particularly welcome potential members who can use the meeting to find out more about BSBI. You also don't need to be a botanical expert or a professional botanist - beginners are particularly welcome.

We try to keep the Conference free (or low-cost) to attend, and exhibitor space has always been free, to give early-career botanists and those on a low income a chance to share their research, but we welcome donations (however small) towards the cost of running this event every year.

As well as exhibits, there are talks and (usually) a behind-the-scenes tour of a herbarium, archive or laboratory. Want a better idea of what has happened at previous Conferences? You can view videos of the talks and see electronic versions of many of the exhibits from recent events by visiting the British & Irish Botanical Conference 2023 webpage and the British & Irish Botanical Conference 2022 webpage. Or check out our Exhibition Meeting archive to see examples of talks and exhibits over the years.

You can also contact us on meetings@bsbi.org if you have any questions - we look forward to hearing from you!

The 2024 British & Irish Botanical Conference took place on Saturday 23rd November at the Natural History Museum, London. Visit the British & Irish Botanical Conference 2024 webpage to get a flavour of the day: watch (or re-watch) many of the 15-minute talks and flash talks, view digital versions of some of the 42 exhibits, and see some photos of what was, by general agreement, a great day.

BSBI Annual General Meeting

The BSBI Annual General Meeting (AGM) used to be held just before lunch at the Conference, but it is now held online as a separate event, allowing more members to participate.

If you are a BSBI member, the AGM is your chance to vote on items relating to the society’s governance. Please head over to our AGM webpage to download the agenda, which is always posted at least a fortnight ahead of the meeting, and to book your space. You will also be able to find out more about the nominations for Trustees. Any member can attend or can raise a matter for discussion by contacting our Company Secretary in advance of the AGM.
