T&E Species Accounts

Our species accounts are intended to bring you information that is topical and up-to-date, focusing on species that are being actively investigated.

Each account should be fully referenced and authoritative, whilst highlighting current issues and ongoing research in order to encourage further study. Unlike more formal sources such as printed Floras and Wikipedia, these accounts are designed to actively encourage speculation and original ideas - as long as such things are clearly distinguished from tested facts.

Researchers are invited to contribute accounts on species they are working on and to request help, for example by asking for quadrats or for people to collect specimens.

You are welcome to borrow ideas from these accounts for your own research, and copy the pictures for non-commercial purposes. The accounts are consciously aimed at postgraduate level, and some of the suggestions here might make for a good Masters dissertation or PhD.

All accounts and photographs are by Alex Lockton unless otherwise stated. Any opinions given are those of the authors, and not necessarily of the BSBI. Potential authors are invited to contribute. Email us for instructions. Feedback is also welcomed and appears at the bottom of each page.
